  • EXPLANATION ABOUT ACCREDITATION
  • Accreditation is the act of certifying that an educational institution maintains suitable standards; the granting of approval to an institution of learning by an official review board after the school has met certain requirements. Specifically, accreditation is the review of a school’s course offerings and procedures by a group of its peers to certify that the school is meeting its own stated objectives and offerings its students the education it promises them. What ordination is to a minister; accreditation is to a school.
  •
  • The purpose of accreditation is to:
  • 1. Certify that an institution has met the established standards of excellence
  • 2. Assist prospective students in identifying reputable institutions, which offer degree programs that will meet their needs and goals
  • 3. Allow institutions to evaluate the acceptability of transfer credits into their own curricula programs

  • In the Ghana, United States and other parts of the world, accreditation of Bible College and Seminaries is a voluntary process with accreditation granted by private, non-governmental agencies. Governmental agencies do not provide theological or ministry accreditation.

  • Government-recognized accreditation is not necessary for the religious vocations we are training people in, which include: Apostolic Ministry, Prophetic Ministry, Evangelistic Ministry, Pastor-Teacher Ministry, Worship Ministry, Deliverance Ministry, etc. People can function and hold jobs in all of these areas without government-recognized accreditation.

  • Individuals seeking employment in government-licensed positions such as public school teachers, state-licensed psychologists or psychiatrists, and non-church-related counselors definitely need government-recognized accredited degrees.

  • Generally, people working in ministry positions do not need a government-accredited degree.
